Feathers

Two feathers, two haiku:
‘A soft white feather

Came floating into my life

Natures gift today’

And

‘I saw a feather

Now I see many feathers

Predator afoot’

Cactus Monday

I went back to 2006 for this cactus. I remember walking one morning and seeing this beautiful cactus flower and falling in love with it. Done in colored pencil.

Happy Cactus Monday.

National Garlic Day

Today is National Garlic Day.  Garlic is a love/hate relationship. Well for me anyway. I love cooking with it and it is healthy but the after  effects can be annoying.

Painted Hummingbirds

I was looking at http://weisserwatercolours.com blog and enjoyed his post about colorful birds.  I was inspired to share a few sketches I did in the past of hummingbirds.

This is a female Broadwinged Hummingbird that I saw nesting in Arizona.  The nest was formed from grass and lots of what looked liked dryer lint!

Then I enjoyed the two babies that were born and always looking for food.

On another note, here are two Ruby throated Hummingbirds at our home in Wisconsin.

National Haiku Poetry Day

April 17th is National Haiku Poetry Day.

“Observed annually on April 17, National Haiku Poetry Day encourages all to try their hand in creativity.  Haiku poetry is a form of Japanese poetry that is generally non-rhyming and normally consist of 3 lines with a syllable pattern of 5-7-5.  Haiku poems are usually inspired by an element of nature, a season, a moment of beauty or a special experience or event.  Sensory language is used to capture a feeling or image.”

I love writing and reading haiku, it just resonates with me.  Give it a try.
