Minerva did some ink sketching/spatter sketches from a Koosje Keene YouTube video, so I had to try it also.
I used J. Hebrin ‘cafe de iles’ ink which is a pretty brown and a Pilot Metro fountain pen. It was very fun and I learned how to do a better spatter.
‘These wild mushrooms
Ink and water for painting
Along with spatter’

I did this sketch yesterday using the ink spatter and zen drawing. I’ve been reading about zen drawing which is really looking at and SEEING what it is. Almost a form of meditation.
I used my Sailor pen which has a water soluble cartridge in it and a leaf I picked up. In my Hobonichi planner.
‘Even the fallen
Maintain the shape of beauty
If only we look’
I bought some handcrafted watercolor paints from https://www.etsy.com/shop/AnthesisArts?ref=l2-shopheader-name. There are three sets of different color and I bought the ‘Coastal’ set. (I can see purchasing the rest in my future😄).
These colors are beautiful!
Love that round tin also 😁
I did a test on my Arches and Stonehenge watercolor papers, both 140# cold press. I personally love the Arches paper and it wins everytime with me.
To find out more on these paints I’m referring you to Jessica’s great in-depth review on https://doodlewash.com/2017/03/11/doodlewash-review-anthesis-arts-handcrafted-watercolors
It’s not only cacti that inspire me, it’s nature in general. This leaf being a small piece of nature that grabbed my attention.
‘And yet one more leaf
Laying on the road so quiet
‘Sketch me’, it yelled out’
So I did
Water-soluble ink and pencil in the sketchbook from Suzy. It has really nice paper.
I went for a walk this morning and found this leaf. I just had to paint it. And write a haiku:
‘Yes, I’m addicted
To enjoying autumn leaves
I just must paint them!’
I love painting autumn leaves. Such a beautiful gift from nature. Haiku:
‘Take the time to stop
And enjoy the pretty leaves
A once a year gift’
‘Welcome to autumn
Where the leaves dance their goodbye
To make us smile’
Happy first day of autumn!
And of course, what would autumn be without her beautiful leaves.
‘This dried up brown leaf
Was once a pretty green one
Hanging on a tree’
